First Day Of Fall At Starbucks: Photo Of The Day

Starbucks marked the first day of fall Friday with colorful cups and the debut of a new seasonal latte.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — Customers at Starbucks were greeted with festive fall cups Friday, marking the first day of the autumn season. Photographer Al Francis sent in this photo taken at a Starbucks in Rohnert Park, in the North San Francisco Bay Area.

The colorful cups are a take on Starbucks' spring cups, which the company says were a hit earlier this year with partners and customers alike.

"With the arrival of fall, the company is bringing back a limited run of colorful cups, this time with jewel-tones of plum, teal and orange celebrating the fun and vibrancy of the season," Starbucks stated in a news release Thursday. "Available in the U.S. and Canada for a limited time, each tall, grande and venti size gets its own vibrant color with white dots and hand-drawn designs including a pie, an owl and of course, a pumpkin."

Friday also marked the annual return of Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte, and the debut of a second fall flavor — the Maple Pecan Latte. The beverage is described as "a warming blend of signature espresso and steamed milk combined with notes of maple syrup and pecan, and finished with a colorful autumn topping."

Which will you choose?
