Goats In Rohnert Park Act As Lawn Mowers At Local Dog Park
"Please DO NOT pet them as they have a job to do and can't be distracted from their duties," the city warned.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — Here's some news to get your goat - several, in fact: Goats and sheep are currently acting as lawnmowers for a Rohnert Park dog park.
Crunching, cropping and chewing, 239 goats and sheep are eating their way across one acre of the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter Dog Park, an off-leash facility in the city.
"The animals are all natural weed eaters and will be gobbling up all the weeds and foxtails from now until Monday," the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said in an email notification to the community Saturday.

It's fine for members of the public to watch the sheep and goats gambol, the safety department said. However, the park is closed until Monday so the critters can devote their full attention to cutting a rug - or rather, the grass.
One final note to the public: "Please DO NOT pet them as they have a job to do and can't be distracted from their duties," the department said.
