Hilarious Comedy "Leading Ladies," opens Oct 2nd at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts

Produced by North Bay Stage Company -- a resident theatre company of Wells Fargo Center for the Arts

“Leading Ladies is filled with fast-paced duel roles for our actors,” says John DeGaetano, artistic director for North Bay Stage Company, a resident company. “There’s never a dull moment in Ken Ludwig’s hilarious comedy; he is also the internationally acclaimed author of Lend Me A Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo.”

The story unfolds as two English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find themselves so down on their luck that they’re performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren’t nephews, but nieces!

“We’ve never heard actors laugh so hard at the auditions… the show is a real hoot,” says co-producers, Audie Foote and Dick Bertapelle. “The romantic entanglements are bound, especially when Leo falls head-over-petticoat in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece.” The show, in a 3-week limited production runs through Oct 18th. Show dates for LEADING LADIES are Oct 2, 3, 4*, 9, 10, 11*, 16, 17, 18* – 2015 (8pm, or *Sunday Matinees 2pm) at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts – East Auditorium.
