Coroner IDs Man Killed In Hwy 12 Crash With Tree-Trimming Truck
The truck driver ran a red light and is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs, the California Highway Patrol said.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office has identified the driver of a Honda Civic who was killed Thursday morning in a collision with a tree-trimming truck in Sonoma County as Harry Gee, a 69-year-old man who lived in Daly City.
The fatal crash happened at 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of state Highway 12 and Oakmont Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of the truck — which had a wood chipper in tow — was identified by the CHP as 29-year-old Tanner Robinson.
Robinson is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs, CHP's Santa Rosa Area Spokesman David deRutte said.

CHP's preliminary investigation indicated Robinson was on driving eastbound SR-12 approaching the intersection at Oakmont when for reasons yet to be determined, he ran a red light, deRutte said.
Simultaneously, the Honda Driver — now identified as Gee — entered the intersection from Oakmont to make a legal left turn onto westbound SR-12, deRutte said.

The front of the truck hit the left side of the Honda, causing Gee, who was alone in the car, to suffer fatal injuries, according to the CHP.
"The driver of the tree truck [Robinson] was determined to be under the influence of drugs and was placed under arrest," deRutte said.
Robinson's bail was set at $100,000; however, Sonoma County jail records showed Friday he has since been released from custody.
