ROHNERT PARK - There was a traffic jam early in the morning over the weekend but not just any traffic jam-these were warriors of the road, classic cars and trucks with chrome bumpers and bodies of steel with hearts of big engines heading for the Annual Peggy Sue's Car Show and Cruise.

The extremely popular event drew over 2,000 spectators of all ages and types to the lure of over 700 vehicles that filled the huge parking lots at the Sonoma Mountain Village on the boarder of Petaluma and Rohnert Park near Sonoma State University over the weekend. There were hundreds of all-American stock and custom cars lined up on display with veteran car enthusiast bringing chairs and covering to sit in the shade of nearby trees.
The Poyntlyss Sistars Rockin' Show Band (sounds like pointless sisters) played one classic song after another including Rock, R&B and Motown and Pop music with three women singers fronting the band.
While cars were gleaming in the afternoon sun, there were about a dozen judges inside a conference room reviewing the judging scores for a huge table of trophies in many categories to be distributed among the registered participants.
After the show all day at the business and entertainment complex, the engines roared to life to trek about 10 miles for the big  annual cruise through Downtown Santa Rosa where hundreds more were delighted to the sounds and sights of America's love of classic cars of yesteryears-the nostalgically remembered past.
