Reports Of Active Shooter At Santa Rosa Mall Inaccurate: Police

Patrons of the downtown mall did see someone with a replica gun but there was no shooting, police said.

SANTA ROSA, CA — Despite reports of an active shooter Wednesday at the Santa Rosa Plaza mall in downtown Santa Rosa, police said there was no shooting nor any threats of a shooting.

Around 3:30 p.m., SRPD saw reports on social media of an "active shooter" at the downtown mall, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Christopher Mahurin said.

"This was inaccurate," Mahurin said. "Patrons did see someone with a replica firearm, but not threatening anyone. SRPD quickly contacted the individual and took them into custody, without incident."

The person had an airsoft gun, according to police.

"The incident is still being investigated, but there was NO active shooter and no mall patrons were threatened or injured," Mahurin said.
