Residents 'Narrowly Escape' Fire At Rohnert Park Mobile Home Park

The residents were able to save one of their dogs but, unfortunately, not the other one, authorities said.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — Two people narrowly escaped a fire Monday morning at their Rohnert Park mobile home, Rohnert Park police and fire officials said.

Firefighters with the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety were dispatched around 10 a.m. to the fire at Las Casitas Drive and Sonoma Lane. Crews were on scene within two minutes and found the mobile home fully engulfed in smoke and flames.

The residents escaped but were exposed to large amounts of smoke while trying to rescue their dogs, one of whom survived. Their second dog, unfortunately, was found dead inside the mobile home, officials said.

Crews from Rancho Adobe and Sonoma County fire departments helped bring the blaze under control.

There was an estimated $100,000 in damage to the mobile home.

"Due to the quick actions of the first arriving engines, the adjacent mobile homes were saved from any damage," Rohnert Park DPS said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday afternoon.

The two displaced residents received medical at the scene, officials said.
