As sales of "Safe and Sane" fireworks begin Tuesday in Sebastopol, police are reminding local residents of some important rules.

SEBASTOL - As sales of "Safe and Sane" fireworks begin Tuesday in Sebastopol, police are reminding local residents of some important rules.
Sebastopol police say fireworks of any kind cannot be used in any city park; it is a city ordinance violation.
Police also say anyone located with illegal or unsafe fireworks will be subject to a citation or even arrest, depending on the level of violation.

The sale and use of fireworks within the city limits of Sebastopol begins today at noon and ends July 4th.
You can use legal fireworks from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. weekdays and from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. on weekends.

On July 4th, you can enjoy your fireworks until the stroke of midnight.
Sunday night, July 3, Sebastopol's fireworks celebration is held at Analy High for the 43rd year, with festivities beginning as early as 5:30 p.m.
With a new football field in place at the school where crowds normally gather to watch the display, officials are asking residents NOT to bring chairs that have four points on the bottom of them.
According to Sebastopol Police Sgt. Greg Devore, the only chairs permitted this year will be those with a flat piece extending across the base of the legs.
