So the City’s Projects Group says they don’t have to follow ADA
The city says they don't have to follow the Federal Code Title 24 for ADA Requirements for the Disabled! They Removed a ADA Access to Park!
so if the City wants to completely disregard all the ADA Requirements, and they said they can just do what they want to do! and then because the contractor screwed up and put a regular curb in by mistake, Kirk said when we went to the site to show him all the screw ups, he said it never was intended to be a Access. I told him that’s the name of the Project (Sidewalk and Creek Path Replacement)! Plain and simple. So now he comes out and says they don’t have to follow the ADA Trail and Path Requirements. Because he said so!
He also said they aren’t required to upgrade the other two Path access points on the only other Sidewalks, because they don’t want to.
The Title 24 stated that you have to upgrade to the current standards when doing major upgrades!
