Teens Identified In Double-Fatal Rohnert Park Crash

Two teen girls, 16 and 17 years old, died at the scene of a crash on Golf Course Drive at Roberts Lake Road.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — Two teen girls who died Saturday in a Rohnert Park crash were identified Monday by authorities as Lorena Recendez-Martinez, 17, and Amada Guadalupe Salinas-Agular, 16.

Lorena, the driver, was a San Rafael resident who previously lived in Rohnert Park.

Amada, the passenger, was a Los Angeles resident who came to Rohnert Park for the summer and planned to go back to L.A. in the fall.

"The Department of Public Safety sends condolences to the family and friends of Lorena and Amada," said Aaron Johnson, deputy chief of police for Rohnert Park.

The fatal collision happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Golf Course Drive at Roberts Lake Road.

Police received several 911 calls about the crash, and early reports indicated there were two people in a car who suffered major injuries, Johnson said.

When officers got to the scene, they found Lorena dead inside a 2018 Mercedes coupe that landed on its side, Johnson said.

Amada was found suffering life-threatening injuries and despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel from Rohnert Park, Sonoma Life Support and Sonoma County Fire, she also died at the scene, the deputy chief said.

The roadway was closed for more than three hours while investigators collected evidence and statements.

Police did not immediately know whether alcohol or drugs were factors.

"Investigators believe the Mercedes was traveling at a high rate of speed west on Golf Course Drive," Johnson said. "The vehicle appears to have struck the right curb while trying to negotiate the curve in the roadway. The vehicle then jumped over the curb and hit two street signs and two trees, ultimately hitting a traffic signal and coming to rest."

Based on evidence and statements from an eyewitness, police believe the Mercedes was the only car involved in the crash.
