Woman Shot At Park, In Critical Condition: Santa Rosa Police

SANTA ROSA, CA —A reward is offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person or people responsible for a shooting Wednesday at a Santa Rosa park that left a woman in critical condition, the Santa Rosa Police Department said.

The shooting was reported at 2:52 p.m. in the parking lot of Bayer Neighborhood Park and Gardens, 1550 West Ave.

"When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult female who had been shot more than one time," Santa Rosa police Sgt. Christopher Mahurin said. "The victim was transported to a local hospital. She is in critical condition with possible life-threatening injuries."

Officers searched the area but did not find any possible suspects.

Police believe the shooter left the park in a car but did not have a vehicle description to provide late Wednesday afternoon.

West Avenue was expected to remain closed for several hours between South Avenue and Liana Drive as detectives and field evidence technicians interviewed witnesses and collected evidence.

"Preliminarily, we believe the shooting may have occurred in the parking lot," Mahurin said.

A reward of up to $2,500 is offered through the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in this shooting, Mahurin said.
