LAKEWOOD, CO — The Taft Park playground in Lakewood is set to be replaced in the fall, and the city has launched a survey to gather public feedback about the playground, at 2951 Simms Drive.

The Ward 1 neighborhood park was last renovated in 1985, the city said. Playground amenities and accessibility are set to be upgraded.

  • No big equipment — stay within the boundaries of the current play equipment so that the open space remains for field sports
  • Have a dedicated division line between pets and kids
  • Keep the toddler slide but upgrade its rails and wood
  • Play equipment should be natural colors, durable and sustainable for a range of ages
  • Create a better picnic area

City staff are expected to share design concepts with the community in August, and construction is slated to begin in the fall.
