3 Branford Eateries Get $5,000 DoorDash Main Street Strong Grants

The grants given to Home, Le Petit Café, and GW Carson's are for rent, payroll, PPE, and expanding outdoor dining capacity among other uses.

BRANFORD, CT — Three Branford eateries have been awarded a Connecticut Restaurant Relief Fund grant by food delivery company DoorDash. Home, Le Petit Café, and GW Carson's receive $5,000 each, provided by the DoorDash Main Street Strong effort.

To date, 92 Connecticut eateries have been chosen for the grants, earmarked for some of the state's hardest hit restaurants. Administered by the philanthropic non-profit arm of the Connecticut Hospitality Educational Foundation, the funds will be used to cover operating costs including rent, payroll, purchasing PPE, expanding outdoor dining capacity, and other expenses.

The DoorDash contribution is part of its $200 million, 5-year Main Street Strong Pledge, which includes a $10 million grant program to help restaurants in select cities across the United States and Canada.

The partnership between DoorDash and the CRA will enhance the lines of communication between restaurants and DoorDash, as well as allow DoorDash to share updates on products and services available to help restaurants grow sales and meet new customers.

"DoorDash has been a partner with our state since early in the pandemic, working with our agencies and communities to help provide meals for those who needed them," Gov. Ned Lamont said. "Our small businesses, especially our restaurants, are part of the fabric of our communities and I'm thrilled to see this corporate partner provide this new aid."
