Absentee Ballot Drop Boxes Popping Up, Starting With Branford

Voters will be able to return their absentee ballot by mail, or in the state's official, secure drop box.

BRANFORD, CT —Town Hall is now home to an official absentee ballot drop box.

Secretary of State Denise Merrill tweeted about it Wednesday —“Look at this beauty in front of Branford’s town hall.”— so Patch went to take a few pictures.

Voters can mail ballots at the post office or, drop them into the official drop boxes and absentee ballot applications may also be put into the drop boxes.

Merrill said every city and town in the state is getting one.

The ballot boxes initiative is the same as Oregon’s, Merrill said.

Merrill reminded voters that the presidential preference primary and the regularly scheduled state primary is Aug. 11.
