BFD Extricates Driver from SUV and Rescues a Hamster
The Branford Fire Department responded to a vehicle that crashed off of North Main Street, rescuing both the driver and a hamster.
The Branford Fire Department and Branford Rescue 1 responded to a car accident on Tuesday afternoon as an SUV crashed down an embankment on North Main Street.Â
The following was posted on Branford Rescue 1's Facebook page:Â
"Members operated on North Main Street for a vehicle off the road this afternoon. Rescue 1 with assistance from Engine 1 established a low angle rescue system to assist the patient up the hill to the awaiting ambulance."
The Branford Fire Department also responded, posting this on its Facebook page:
"Firefighters responded to North Main St near #205 for this Motor Vehicle accident late this afternoon. The car in this picture [see attached]Â went off the road and down an embankment approximately 30 feet. The driver was injured and transported to Yale via Medic-1. Also saved by firefighters was a pet hamster..."
North Main Street was closed and according to Rescue 1, "members are also babysitting a second passenger while its owner is evaluated at the hospital."
Later that evening, Branford Rescue 1 extricated an uninjured person who was stuck in an elevator.
