Branford Track, Tennis Compete in SCCs; Girls' Lacrosse Plays Tuesday

The Branford boys' track team took third in the SCC Championship with 73.5 points. Amity Regional took the SCC title with 109 points followed by Xavier with 93 points.

The girls' team earned a ninth-place finish in a 19-team field with 29 points. 

On the courts, fourth-seeded Guilford edged the Branford boys' tennis team, the No. 5 seed, 4-3.

The regular season for 2013 spring sports is already behind us, which means it's tournament time! The Southern Connecticut Conference tournaments begin today with the track championship underway at Sheehan High School.

The Branford boys' tennis team took the No. 5 seed in Division I and faces a familiar foe in Guilford High School, which is seeded fourth, in the quarterfinals. The winner takes on top-seeded Amity on Tuesday, May 21 at Yale University.

The girls' tennis team earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the Division II tournament. The Hornets begin competition on Tuesday, May 21 when they'll take on the winner of the Hamden (No. 6)-Sacred Heart Academy (No. 3) match.

The girls' lacrosse team snagged the last slot in the SCC Tourney as the No. 4 seed. Branford will take on top-seeded Cheshire in the semifinals on Tuesday, May 21 at 4 p.m. at Hamden High School. The winner plays in the championship game on Thursday, May 23 ata Ken Strong Stadium in West Haven against the winner of the Hand (No. 2)-Guilford (No. 3) game.
