Donut Crazy Reopens In Branford A Few Months After It Closed

BRANFORD, CT — When Donut Crazy shut down its Branford operation earlier this year after only a few months in business the owner of the franchise told Patch that he would like to return to Branford someday.

Well Jason Wojnarowski, the founder and owner of Donut Crazy locations in Shelton, Stratford, New Haven, Westport and West Hartford, is a man of his word.

On Thursday morning he reopened his Branford location at the same West Main Street location as the original location.

"When we shut down we heard from a lot of people that they were really disappointed," Wojnarowski said in an interview Thursday morning. "So we did everything we could do to get back to Branford."

One difference between this Donut Crazy operation and the previous one is that the business will be handled corporately, much as most of all the other Donut Crazy stores are handled in Connecticut, Wojnarowski said.

The previous Branford operation was run by someone who leased the space from Donut Crazy.

Since the Branford store is a bit smaller than the other Donut Crazy locations, Wojnarowski said it will only be "take out service - at least for now."

He said there just isn't enough room in the West Main Street location for seating.

"But just because it's take out doesn't mean you won't be able to get a full breakfast and all our delicious donuts," Wojnarowski quickly added.

"Who knows what will happen down the road," he said, adding its always possible the franchise will add a bigger, with seating location in Branford somewhere, sometime in the future.

For now the hours of operation will be seven days a week - 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturdays.
