Food Drive Friday at I-95 Service Plazas in Branford, Darien for CT Food Bank
Drop off canned food up until 7 p.m. at service plazas at both the northbound traffic and southbound traffic sides in Branford and Darien.

An announcement from Project Service LLC of the Carlyle Group, which runs Connecticut service plazas:
Connecticut Service Plazas will host their Annual Food Drive on Friday, November 14th, from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The events will be broadcast on WPLR 99.1 FM and 95.9 The Fox.
This year’s food drive will be at the I-95 Branford Northbound and Southbound Service Plazas and the 1-95 Darien Northbound and Southbound Service Plazas.

95.9 The Fox will host live from Darien Southbound (between exits 10 & 9): 6-10 a.m. Ed, 10-12 Peter Bush, 12-2 Pam and 2-4 Producer Phil. The Fox’s Street Team will be at the Darien Northbound Plaza (between exits 12 & 13).
99.1 WPLRwill host live from Branford Southbound (between exits 54 & 53) Plaza: 6-8 am Beth, 8-10 Mike Lapitino, 10-12 Allan Lamberti, 12-2 Chaz and AJ, 2-4 the Wig, and 4-7 Pam. The WPLR Street Team will be at the Branford Northbound Plaza (between exits 54 & 53).

Non-perishable food items, frozen turkeys, as well as monetary donations will be collected at the two Darien and two Branford Service Plazas and then given to The Connecticut Food Bank.
“We are honored that we are able to host this year’s food drive at our Service Plazas in Branford and Darien,” said Paul Landino, President and CEO of Project Service. “We have currently completed renovations on 17 Service Plazas. As more plazas begin to reopen we hope to continue to host more community events like this.”
All 17 Service Plazas are open twenty-four hours a day. Each Service Plaza offers different food options; some of these options include Subway, McDonalds, and Dunkin’ Donuts.
Each Service Plaza also features an Alltown Convenience Store and an ExxonMobil gas station. The plazas have clean restrooms, free WiFi and backup power generators for use during power outages.
