Former Longtime Branford Coach Hired At Notre Dame-West Haven
Notre Dame-West Haven announced the hiring this week.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Former longtime Branford hockey coach Larry Viera has been named the new hockey coach at Notre Dame-West Haven. Viera, a Milford resident, replaces Tim Belcher, who stepped down at the end of last season.
Viera, who has been a teacher at West Haven High School for the past 29 years, has a career record of 414-310-16 in 34 years of coaching high school hockey in Connecticut. He coached at Branford High School for 26 years, and was inducted into the Branford Sports Hall of Fame in 2017, followed by a two-year stint at Darien and spent the last six years at New Fairfield-Immaculate.
“In my opinion, Notre Dame of West Haven is the premier ice hockey program in the state," said Vieira, via GoGreenKnights.com. “Coaching opportunities at premier schools rarely open up. To me, it was a no brainer to apply and I am very humbled to be entrusted with the responsibility to lead such high-character student-athletes at a school like Notre Dame."
