Good Samaritans Step In After Cat Gives Birth But Abandons Kitten
A mama cat gave birth to one kitten but for reasons unknown, left afterward and didn't return. The newborn was rescued. Her name is Lucky.

BRANFORD, CT —Sunday night, some "nice people" waited for a mother cat to return to her newborn kitten after giving birth, but she never came back. So when darkness had fallen and there was no sign of her, the good Samaritans came to its aid. Now, the kitten named Lucky is being cared for by the staff at the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter.

"Late last night as many of us were winding down from Easter celebrations , some staff and volunteers of DCAS were busy saving lives. A mom cat had given birth to a kitten and left it. Nice people watched the newborn from a distance for many hours waiting for mom to return but she never did. When it finally got dark they thought she might come back but still did not. So staff are now caring for and bottle feeding this baby every two hours and are keeping a loving watchful eye on her. They have named her Lucky. Great job to all for stepping in and helping to save this tiny kitten," shelter director Laura Burban wrote.
