Hope's Remarkable Recovery From Abuse Continues

Hope's recovery from severe abuse is now at the three month mark. Shelter staff said it was one of the worst cases of abuse they'd seen.

(Editor's Note: For those of you who haven't been following the story of Hope, you've missed a lot. Three months ago someone driving by saw a dog struggling to walk in Branford. She took the dog to the Dan Csogrove Animal Shelter and the staff there called it "one of the worst cases of animal cruelty" they had ever seen. The staff said the dog was starved and a day or two away from death. Over the past few months, shelter staff and local vets cared for the dog and named her 'Hope.' A reward of $5,000 has been issued by PETA. The shelter has been providing updates concerning Hope's recovery.)

Hope Update!!! Look at this happy dog! We are almost 3 months from the time that we found Hope and she is doing absolutely amazing!
She is still nearing that 70 pound mark and she is still eating a bland dog food at this point. The doctors are slowly weaning her off of medications and then they will see how she does.

Her bloodwork is great and so is her activity level! She has been a happy and outgoing girl! She still can be very uncertain around new people especially large groups of people, so we most likely will not do a formal meet and greet with her at this time.

While we would love for everyone to meet her, we just feel at this point it may not be in her best interest. As she continues to build trust and bond with humans again, we will try to figure out another way for everyone to see her and get to see her progress.

But for now she is doing absolutely amazing!! Next week we will be deciding on her new adoptive home...so stay tuned!
