Hospice Pool Passes Prove Popular

Looking to swim this summer? Head to a pool with a view at Connecticut Hospice with a special pass for Branford residents.

In the spring, Connecticut Hospice approached the town offering use of its pool to Branford residents. After surveying residents, the Rec Department found a high interest level, which certainly proved true once passes begin available.

Vic Amatori of the Rec Department said that more than 100 passes have sold with a limited number still available. The passes are $20 for individuals or $40 for families for the season.

The pool opened to those holding passes the first weekend in June. Pool hours through the end of June are noon to 6 p.m. From July 1 to Labor Day, hours will be expanded to include lap swimming from 8 to 10 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and open swim from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Amatori encouraged anyone interested to come in as soon as possible as there is a 125-pass cap for pool access. Cash, check, Visa and MasterCard are accepted and residents will receive a laminated pass, a schedule and the rules and regulations for use.

“The response has been great,” said Amatori. “Residents love the town beaches, but there they can only swim in open water; they love the middle school pool, but that’s indoors so people have been excited to have the opportunity to use this resource.”
