Joe Higgins' Widow Angela Sworn In As Selectman

Angela Higgins was sworn in a member of the Board of Selectmen Wednesday to fill the vacancy left by her husband, who died June 4.

BRANFORD, CT — Angela Higgins was sworn in a member of the Board of Selectmen Wednesday to fill the vacancy left by her husband Joseph Higgins, Jr.

The term will expire Nov. 16, 2021.

Higgins died June 4. He retired as New York Fire Department Fire Commissioner Liaison and honorary Deputy Chief, Past President of Fire Bell Club of New York, a recipient of FDNY Columbia Association Humanitarian Award, a recipient of FDNY O'Brien Community Award and received multiple awards for his work during the 9/11 attack including a number of FBI 9/11 Memorial Awards. He was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. John Bosco Parish in Branford.

Higgins was the 2nd Selectman for the Town of Branford from 2013.
