Lloyd Greene Education names '21 Valedictorian

Samantha "Sammie J" Berrios

It is the honor of Lloyd Greene Education to name Samantha "Sammie J" Berrios, as our '21 Class Valedictorian.

Samantha is an amazing student who shines bright regardless of the challenges in front of her or behind her. She strives for outstanding academic excellence, and has flawlessly pivoted through so much adversity over the course of her life-- from challenging medical issues to the loss of a family member. Her desire to create happiness in others through compassion and laughter is unparalleled. She has volunteered and worked as a recreational aide at a nursing facility for over two years and her patients all love her. Samantha is a person determined to create positivity in the world. Every single college she has applied to has accepted her for admission. No matter what school she chooses, she will definitely be a wonderful asset to their community.

When asked what has kept her strong and determined, her response was simple: "My Mom, my family, my friends, and the teachers and community at Lloyd Greene Education." She went on to describe Lloyd Greene Edu. as "a home, a place where you always feel accepted-- where teachers work on customizing a learning plan for each student. I love the small classes and the fact that the teachers can answer any questions we have. It is my home away from home."

The current pandemic has been difficult on all students around the country. What has Lloyd Greene been able to do to keep the momentum up? Samantha answered, "They made a flawless transition from in-school at our location in Hamden to an online, face to face class quickly. Although I miss the physical in-school time, Lloyd Greene has made our online learning fun, and engagingly awesome!"

She continued, "In a crazy world, I have grown from a moth to a butterfly, a young woman who is very excited to make the world a better place. I am blessed with a great Mom and family, a group of fabulous friends, and the Lloyd Greene Education community. With all of these positive role models and support, I have thrived and reached for the stars. I promised myself that I would always be a person of character and compassion. Soon, I will be studying child psychology with a minor in art therapy. Thank you all for being my circle, my strength, and my everything! Samantha "Sammie J" Berrios"
