Local League Of Women Voters Holds Registration Event Sept. 22
On Tuesday, National Voter Registration Day, the East Shore LWV provides registration, and election information at the Soundview Family Y.
BRANFORD, CT —Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day.
And the League of Women Voters of the East Shore, which covers Branford, North Branford, Guilford, Killingworth, and Madison, stand ready to help.
League members will be at the Soundview Family YMCA, 628 E Main St. in Branford, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 22.

There, they’ll have registration forms for new voters and for anyone who may have moved/changed a name since they last voted. They’ll also have candidate information for all districts in the area.
National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating American democracy.First observed in 2012, nearly 3 million voters have registered to vote on the holiday to date.

The holiday has been endorsed by the National Association of Secretaries of State, the National Association of State Election Directors, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and the National Association of Election Officials.

The League of Women Voters was founded in 1920, the same year as the ratification of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote.
