Mark Your Calendars: Upcoming Events at the Blackstone Library
There are a number of special events on the calendar in the coming months at Branford's Blackstone Library.

If you're looking for something to do, the Blackstone Library is offering a wide range of programs and presentations for all ages. Several new lectures were recently added to the calendar, including the following (for more information, click on the name of the lecture):Â
A Brief History Of Jazz - Part 1 and Part 2

These events will be held on Friday, April 12 and 19, respectively, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Both will feature the Laid Back Jazz Quartet "using discussion and musical performances to illustrate the evolution of jazz."

This event, scheduled for Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m., features the band Rave On!, which will "play the music of Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and other legends of early rock and roll."

Classical Music in Classic Cartoons
On Tuesday, May 14, "Nicole Biamonte, Assistant Professor of Music Theory at McGill University in Montreal, will explore music, visual elements, and meaning in vintage cartoons with famous classical soundtracks" beginning at 7 p.m.
Black Tie by A.R. Gurney
Beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, a cast of five will perform "Black Tie" by A.R. Gurney in a two-hour production. "After the performance, the cast welcomes the opportunity to chat informally with members of the audience."Â
