Andy Campbell is one of three hoping to take over as first selectman of Branford.

The candidates for First Selectman in Branford are set with Andy Campbell named by the Democrats, Jamie Cosgrove named by the Republicans and Jacey Wyatt running under the newly formed Independent Branford Voters Coalition.
Today meet Andy Campbell with profiles on Cosgrove and Wyatt to follow.
 Â
Branford Patch:Â Why do you want to be Branford's First Selectman?
Andy Campbell: I want to be Branford’s First Selectman because this town deserves strong leadership, especially in these tough times, and I believe I’m uniquely qualified among the candidates to do the job. I enjoy public service, and have served in many leadership roles in Branford since I arrived in 1994, and I think I can help build a brighter future for our future generations.
Branford Patch:Â What experience do you bring to the table?
Andy Campbell: I bring significant experience to this position – as a small business owner on Main Street for nearly two decades, as a small-town lawyer helping my neighbors in the community, as a parent of children in the public schools and as a taxpayer who works hard for his paycheck. Also, I have had the honor of being asked by four different administrations to assist with governing our town. Dom Buonocore was the first to ask me to get involved in the town, and I have enjoyed working with John Opie, Cheryl Morris and Unk DaRos, as well, in positions on the RTM, the Board of Selectmen, the Tax Relief Committee, the regional Cable Advisory Council, the Town Technology Strategy Committee and others.
Branford Patch:Â What do you think the town's most pressing issue is?
Andy Campbell: The town’s most pressing issue is the ability to maintain essential services in a cost-effective fashion, including public safety and education, and ensuring the future ability to provide these services without undue burden our taxpayers. To do so, we need to continue to explore efficiencies, as well as employ long-term planning effectively.
Branford Patch:Â What do you love most about Branford?
Andy Campbell:Â The thing I love most about Branford is the small-town feel, not just with all the familiar faces, but with the connections we all share, whether through our schools, churches, neighborhoods, civic organizations or just our social networks. You can always meet somebody who knows somebody who seems to know you.Â
Branford Patch:Â What do you like to do for fun?
Andy Campbell:Â For fun I like to hang out with my kids and my wife, talk to my friends about sports and politics, and garden in my backyard. Sometimes I go climb a mountain.
