Obituary: Janet Melillo, 70, of Branford
Janet, who taught at John B. Sliney School for 25 years and brought her zest for life to every class, loved family, food and the ocean.

Janet Melillo, 70, of Branford, CT passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2021. She was born December 31, 1950 in New Haven, CT to Viola and Vincent Melillo of Branford, CT.
Janet is survived by her beloved son Vincent, his wife Maria and two grandchildren Gaetano and Pamina Adinolfi. Her Brothers Joseph V. Melillo NYC, Gary Melillo (wife) Meg of Guilford, Sisters Camille Stevens of Branford, Susan Basile (husband) Michael of Branford. Her nieces, Jacquelyn Basile Nashville, Brooke Bajda (husband)Joseph of Stratford, nephews, Max Melillo (wife) Eri NYC, and Joseph Basile (wife) Tara of Branford.
Janet was a long-time resident of Branford. She taught theater arts in New Haven before broadening her teaching career. Janet taught at John B. Sliney School for over 25 years and brought her zest for life to every class she taught.
Family and friends will forever remember her passion for family, food and the ocean. She was known for her infectious laugh, and generous heart. Janet had a wonderful sense of humor, creative spirit and her beautiful singing voice that she shared with many local choirs will be sorely missed.
Services and burial will be held privately. A celebration of Janet’s life to commemorate her contagious enthusiasm and many accomplishments will be forth coming. It will be announced on Social Media.
In lieu of flowers a monetary donation can be made to John B. Sliney School, 23 Eades Street, Branford Connecticut 06405 c/o Gary Melillo towards the purchase of a bench to be placed in the playground in her honor.
