Obituary: Paul Douglas Banta, 83, of Branford

A high school athlete who later played softball in the Twilight League, he worked at Western Electric and AT & T for 35 years.

Paul Douglas Banta of Branford and Winter Haven, FL passed away May 29 2021. He was born to Edwin and Marjorie Cone Banta on November 18, 1937. He was predeceased by five brothers. He leaves his high school sweetheart of 56 years, Rose Sagnella, and two devoted children, Craig Banta of Castiac, CA and Lori Kryzkij of Branford. He also leaves two beloved grandchildren, Alexandra and Alana Kryzkij. Paul was uncle to many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his niece Susan who always remembered magazines and candy.

Paul was an athlete and played all 3 sports at West Haven High winning many awards. He graduated in 1956. After high school he played softball in the Twilight League. His favorite story was when he pitched against his older brother Warren. He enjoyed traveling to Europe and driving his RV across the country stopping at many famous landmarks. Paul worked at Western Electric and at AT & T for 35 years until his retirement.

A celebration of his life is planned for later in the summer. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 East Main St., Branford, CT 06405.
