Obituary: Robert Charles Davey Sr., 83, of Branford
A U.S. Army veteran who had a long successful career in the automotive industry, loved time with family, playing golf and coaching soccer.

Robert Charles Davey Sr., 83, of Branford, passed peacefully on the morning of May 4, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born in Baltimore, MD on April 11,1938. Robert graduated from Scranton (PA) Preparatory School and earned a B.A.in English from the University of Scranton. He and Mary Ellen Acker were married on November 14, 1964. Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, children Kathleen (husband Lou Rogacki), Robert Jr. (wife Cara), Kristen, and Amy (husband Michael Anderson), as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, Jude, Brenna, and Erin- who were the lights of his life.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves from 1960 until he was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain in 1973. Robert spent the majority of his work career in the automotive aftermarket in significant and successful positions in companies including Carter Carburetor and Echlin Inc. Robert loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren as well as playing golf and coaching soccer.
He will be greatly missed by all of his family, friends, and people who were positively affected by his time with us.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Saturday morning at 10:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. John Bosco Parish at St. Mary's Church, Branford at 10:30. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Friends may call SATURDAY MORNING from 8:30-10:00.
