A restaurant that has been a popular spot on the Branford shoreline for the past four years is closing its doors; read below.

BRANFORD, CT - A well-known restaurant on the Branford shoreline has suddenly decided to close.

Here is what the owners, Eamon Roche and Greg Nobile, of "The Stand" had to say on social media about their decision.

"Four years ago, The Stand was founded with the hope and desire to bring our community together over good food, company, and conversation. This journey has been a joy to share with our customers, partners and staff, and the memories accumulated over these past four years will always remain a vital and treasured part of our lives. But sadly, as with many journeys, ours is coming to an end sooner than we would have hoped on December 23rd.

"This decision has not been an easy one to make. In spite of a good spring, 2018 sales have been on the decline and it has become increasingly challenging for us to make the numbers work during weekdays and off season periods. Our hearts are heavy, but we are excited about continuing to pursue our passion for creating unique hospitality experiences and look forward to further investing in our community.

"Over the next couple of weeks, we are eager to celebrate you, our friends and customers, and the amazing staff who have made this dream a reality. Without all of you, our journey would not have been possible. We are indebted to you for your support, friendship and love.

"Please let this serve as a reminder to support the local businesses you love in our community. Where you shop, where you eat, and where you play allows the neighborhood places that we care about deeply to survive and thrive, and creates jobs and opportunities for our friends and neighbors.

"We hope that you will join us on our future journeys, and thank you for being by our side for this one. We love you, we love our community, and can’t wait for what is next. We hope to see you at The Stand very soon.

"Yours, forever with love and gratitude."

The two owners told Zip06 that they will continue to operate their piano bar, The Friki Tiki, which opened last summer, at a location next to Lenny's, nearby The Stand.
