The owner of a videogame store in Branford that carries both retro and current generation games has been named the 2013 Connecticut Small Business Person of the Year.

The U.S. Small Business Administration, which administers these awards by state, bestowed the accolade on Christopher R. Runyan, owner of the Wallingford GameXChange store on Route 5 across from Kohl's.

The franchise retail store sells, purchases and trades new and pre-owned video games and related hardware, software and accessories, according to a news release from Bernard M. Sweeney, Connecticut's SBA District Director.

He will be recognized during a ceremony at The Hartford Club on June 5, according to The Hartford Business Journal.

Runyan opened the state's first GameXChange store in Milford in 2010 and then went on to open other locations in Bridgeport, Wallingford, Waterbury, Branford, Orange, and Hamden.

The Orange store was ranked sixth out of more than 50 GameXChange locations in revenue for 2012, the news release said. In total, the franchise has brought in 40 jobs, SBA said.
