Sign Stolen From Recently Closed Branford Restaurant

David Henry's restaurant closed after the recent passing of the chef and owner; now sign has been stolen and family is asking for it back.

BRANFORD, CT - The family that closed a restaurant after the recent death of the chef and owner has had the sign stolen and is asking whoever stole it to return it them as a way to help the family remember their loved one.

Where the sign for David Henry’s on School Ground Road once stood instead is a hand-written message from the family asking that whoever stole the sign to please return it “no questions asked.”

The sign says if the family gets the sign back it will help them remember the chef and owner - David Henry Thomasson.

The hand-written sign asks whoever took the sign “to have a conscience” and return the stolen sign.

It doesn’t say who the person who took the sign should contact to return the sign.

Thomasson recently died and shortly after his passing the restaurant closed.

When it closed, the restaurant posted the following on its website:

“Chef David Henry Thomasson had always dreamed of owning and his own restaurant. Through David's hard work, determination and strong will, on November 8th, 2016 that dream became a reality.

“David was so proud to create incredible food, and enjoyed sitting with customers sharing a drink, a chat and a smile.Unfortunately, David became ill and passed away suddenly late last year.
“Gifted with the same amazing characteristics as her father, Juliana decided to carry on with the restaurant, along with Chef Leigh Van Hennik and a dedicated staff.
“Thanks to the continued support of David's loyal following of customers, the restaurant was able to keep going.
“However, it has come time to say goodbye to this truly amazing place.
“Chef David was the heart, mind and soul of David Henry's.
“It is impossible to move forward without him.”
