Whatever Happened to Plan For An Archie Moore's in Branford?

It was announced with much fanfare late last year that an Archie Moore's franchise was coming to Branford to replace Su Casa. Where is it?

BRANFORD, CT - If you are like a lot of people in Branford you're probably wondered whatever happened to the plan for an Archie Moore's franchise to open up at the old Su Casa restaurant site at 400 East Main Street.

It has been nine months since Su Casa ended its close to half-century run and fans of that restaurant while sad when its closing was announced were happy when they were told that Archie Moore's and its popular chicken wings, burgers and other American fare served in Milford, Fairfield, Derby, Wallingford and New Haven would be opening at the Su Casa location in Branford.

It seemed like a natural fit to bring the popular restaurant to a shoreline location.

But, again nine months after Su Casa closed, there hasn't been a single bit of work done at the Su Casa site to indicate Archie Moore's or any other restaurant for that matter, is close to taking its place.

Patch has spent the past several weeks trying to talk to owners of Archie Moore's and Branford officicials about what is - or rather what isn't - going on at the site.

Patch did find out some information, however, by turning to social media and found several social media posts that the deal "fell through."

Part of the issue, again according to social media, is that when the Archie Moore's representatives toured through the restaurant site they found problems "including asbestos issues" inside the restaurant.

Another post referred to "finding problems in the kitchen."

We will continue to keep an eye on the Su Casa site to see if any work goes on - and - continue to try and get official comment from Archie Moore's as to what happened to its Branford plans.
