FAIRFIELD, CT — A 10-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle recently in Fairfield, but was not seriously injured, according to police.

Law enforcement received a 911 call about 8:30 a.m. Monday reporting a child on a scooter was hit by a vehicle at Penfield Road and Quincy Street, police said in a news release.

The boy — who was traveling east on Quincy Street using a small Razor scooter when he collided with the vehicle — complained of pain in his ankle, wrist and head, according to police, who noted the child and his father declined an ambulance.

The driver, a 63-year-old woman who was going north on Penfield Road, was not injured, police said. After the collision, the driver stopped and tried to help the boy, according to police.

A witness account and video surveillance revealed the child and the driver — who both live in the area — each failed to come to a complete stop despite stop signs at the intersection, police said. The driver was issued an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign and the boy was told to use the sidewalk in the future, according to police.
