FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield man is seriously hurt after he was hit by a vehicle Sunday while crossing the street, according to police.

Law enforcement responded about 12:30 p.m. to Reef Road just north of Veteran’s Park, where they found a 25-year-old man lying on the ground and suffering from several injuries, police said.

The man had been walking south on the sidewalk when he suddenly tried to cross Reef Road without looking for oncoming traffic, witnesses told police. He was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by a 29-year-old Fairfield woman, police said, adding it does not appear speed was a factor in the crash and the victim did not use a crosswalk.
