3 Sent To Hospital After DMV Cruiser Struck In Fairfield: Police

The crash on Interstate 95 involved three vehicles, including a state cruiser, police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Several people were taken to a hospital after a Fairfield crash involving a state vehicle, according to police.

A Department of Motor Vehicles cruiser was traveling south in the left lane of Interstate 95 near Exit 21 when it was forced Thursday afternoon to slow for traffic congestion, state police said. A Honda CR-V behind the cruiser swerved to avoid hitting the state vehicle, and instead struck a Honda Accord Crosstour in the center lane, causing the Crosstour to spin out and hit the cruiser, according to police.

The driver of the DMV cruiser, a 52-year-old Wethersfield man, and a driver and passenger in the Crosstour, a 52-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, both from Trumbull, were taken to Bridgeport Hospital for possible injuries, police said.
