FAIRFIELD, CT — A New Haven woman was recently arrested on charges connected to an incident in which a trio of shoplifters fled the Fairfield Gap store with nearly $4,000 worth of denim, according to police.

Stella R. Evans, 34, was arrested April 8 and is charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, police said.

The incident occurred July 28, 2019, when officers responded to the retailer on Black Rock Turnpike, where management reported three people had entered the business, grabbed large stacks of jeans and left without paying for the $3,920 in merchandise, according to police. The trio then drove off in a vehicle that had been parked in a handicap space, police said.

Evans was brought to the Fairfield station, posted a $100,000 bond, and was then taken to Farmington, where there was also a warrant out for her arrest, according to police.

Evans is scheduled to be arraigned April 22.
