5 Teens Charged After Fairfield Machete Chase: Police
"This incident appears to be isolated to the individuals involved and is related specifically to an ongoing altercation," police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Five teens are charged in connection with an incident Thursday involving a machete, a chase through the streets of Fairfield and an ongoing dispute, according to police.
A resident called law enforcement just after 3 p.m. and reported several people had been chasing each other with weapons on Grasmere Avenue and then ran into a house, police said.
After an investigation, officers learned three teens — Sean Beltran, 19; Alex Bueno, 18; and Arteyrius Smith, 18 — had gone to the home of Dominic Caban, 19, and another teen who was a minor with the intention of continuing an existing dispute, according to police. Caban and the teen went outside to speak with Bueno, and wielded a machete when the conversation turned confrontational, chasing Bueno to Longview Avenue, where Beltran and Smith were standing, police said.

When they heard sirens, Caban and the teen ran home, and did not immediately comply when law enforcement asked them to exit the house, according to police. The pair was eventually arrested and a 29-inch machete was recovered, police said. Officers also arrested Beltran, Bueno and Smith, although Beltran initially tried to give a fake name, according to police.
“This incident appears to be isolated to the individuals involved and is related specifically to an ongoing altercation,” Lt. Antonio Granata said in an email. “There is no threat to the general public at this time.”
