In one of the incidents, a resident on Papurah Road said his wallet was stolen from his vehicle along with packages stolen from his front porch.

The man provided investigators with Ring Door Bell video that showed two men running up to the front door of his home where packages were left outside overnight. The theft happened around 4:30 a.m.

“Alarmingly, one of the suspects is captured on the video holding a silver firearm, just feet from the complainants’ front doorstep,” police wrote in a news release. “The suspects take the packages and fortunately flee without incident.”

The suspects were seen hours later on surveillance video using the resident’s stolen credit cards at a gas station in Wallingford, according to police.

Fairfield detectives “collected DNA and latent fingerprint evidence from the targeted Lake Hills vehicles,” police said.

One of the fingerprints was forensically examined and matched that of Malik Walker, according to police.

Police said Walker was also identified on video surveillance using the stolen credit cards at the gas station in Wallingford. In September 2020, Walker was arrested by the Hartford Police Department after investigators conducted a search warrant of his home and found two handguns, according to police. He is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Walker was arrested by Fairfield police on a warrant on May 18. He was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and six counts each of conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.
