FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield home was damaged Saturday after heat from a fireplace started a blaze in the residence.

Emergency personnel received a call around 11:15 p.m. about smoke in the attic of a Burroughs Road home, according to Assistant Chief Erik Kalapir. When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were visible from the exterior of the structure.

Crews extinguished the blaze and no one was injured in the fire, according to Kalapir, who said the home suffered moderate damage after heat gas from the fireplace flue extended into the residence and caused the building to catch fire.
