Brickyard Pub Closed, But Space Likely Won't Be Vacant Long
"People are looking to establish new restaurants in the market," a Fairfield official said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Work is underway to fill a restaurant vacancy in Fairfield after a local pub closed in recent months.
There’s a “for rent” sign on the door of the former Brickyard Pub, which closed several months ago, according to Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart.
“Nothing’s definitive for that site yet,” said Barnhart, who added that the space is for lease and that he is in talks with several potential interested parties that are looking to establish restaurants in town. “I suspect it won’t be a long-term vacancy.”

The space at 93 Post Road is a roughly 2,700-square-foot standalone brick building constructed in 1920. The storefront is part of Fairfield’s Post Road corridor, which recently welcomed Sonia’s Gourmet Kitchen, and is poised to add PizzaCo and Café Monaco in the coming months. LobsterCraft is also in the process of moving to a bigger space on the Post Road.
“People are looking to establish new restaurants in the market,” Barnhart said.

Previous tenants of the 93 Post Road location have had multiple run-ins with law enforcement.
In October, the Brickyard Pub was forced to temporarily close and ownership was fined for executive order violations after customers were seen crowding and failing to wear face masks despite the coronavirus pandemic, according to police. In 2019, a manager at the pub agreed to sell cocaine to an undercover officer while in the restaurant, police said at the time.
Owner Jennifer Lynn Wilson did not respond Wednesday to a request for information about why the pub had permanently closed.
Before it was the Brickyard Pub, 93 Post Road was the site of Vinny’s Ale House, which was ordered in 2018 to pay nearly $250,000 in back wages and damages to eight workers after the business neglected to give mandatory overtime to certain employees, Westfair reported at the time.
