Chris Lyddy Sworn in as Police Chief by First Selectman Tetreau
Wife Holds Bible and Pins New Badge on Police Chief
The Fairfield Police Department has a new Chief. Deputy Chief Christopher Lyddy was sworn in to the rank of Chief of Police by First Selectman Michael Tetreau on January 15, 2019. As his wife Kathy held a bible, Tetreau administered the official oath of office. Afterwards, Kathy Lyddy pinned the Chief's new badge on his chest. Chief Lyddy's mother watched from a front row seat.
Chief Lyddy told his mom that this would be his last promotional ceremony. The program was held at Penfield Pavilion on Fairfield Beach Road in Fairfield, CT among hundreds of Town leaders, area police chiefs, dozens of first responders, elected officials and community members. Police Chaplain Charles Allen, SJ of Fairfield University gave an innovation. Remarks were limited to the Chairman of the Police Commission, Jack Stone.
The Connecticut General Assembly delegation presented citations including State Representatives Cristin McCarthy Vahey, Brenda Kupchick and Laura Devlin and State Senator Tony Hwang. Town Clerk Betsy Browne was also present.

Five other individuals were promoted during the hour-long program.
- Captain Donald Smith to the rank of Deputy Chief
- Lieutenant Christopher Tursi to the rank of Captain
- Lieutenant Robert Kalamaras to the rank of Captain
- Sergeant Antonio Granata to the rank of Lieutenant
- Officer Christopher Mastronardi to the rank of Sergeant
