The dog may have been abandoned, according to the animal control.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Animal Control is asking for help with locating the owner of a dog that was found in the Lake Mohegan parking lot last week.

“This male Rottweiler was picked up from the Lake Mohegan parking lot on the night of May 9th,” the animal control wrote in a post on Facebook. “He is currently at the shelter and is being evaluated by staff. Somewhat grumpy behind a cage fence he comes around when out in the office or on a walk. Unfortunately, Lake Mohegan appears to be a somewhat popular drop off site for unwanted dogs and we find that most dogs picked up at that location are unclaimed by any owners.

“Abandoning a dog is considered a violation of the Cruelty to Animals statute 53-247. If anyone has any information on who the owner or keeper of this dog may be they can call Fairfield Animal Control at 254-4857.”
