Driver Crashes Into War Monument: Fairfield Police
A car veered off of the Post Road and crashed into the Pequot War Memorial monument, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A driver was taken to the hospital overnight after crashing into a war memorial in Southport, according to police.
Emergency personnel received a call about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday reporting that a car had veered off of the Post Road and crashed into the Pequot War Memorial monument, police said. First responders treated the driver, a 63-year-old woman, who was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, according to police. The woman was not seriously injured and the monument sustained only minor damage, police said.
The driver was charged with failure to stay in the proper lane and the vehicle was towed, according to police.
