Driver Escapes Car Fire In Fairfield

The fire occurred Monday evening on Interstate 95.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A driver safely escaped a car fire Monday evening in Southport.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which occurred on Interstate 95 near Exit 19, according to a Facebook post from the Fairfield Fire Department.

"After the majority of fire was extinguished, firefighters used gas-powered rotary saws to access the motor area to ensure extinguishment and investigate the origin and cause of fire," the post said.

"Luckily the operator of the motor vehicle was able to escape without suffering any injuries."
