Election Recounts Planned In Fairfield For 3 RTM Districts, Constables

Municipal elections were held in Fairfield and throughout Connecticut on Tuesday.

FAIRFIELD, CT ? The votes from Tuesday's election in districts 1, 3 and 8 of the Fairfield Representative Town Meeting will be recounted by the Registrars of Voters at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities, 100 Mona Terrace in Fairfield, according to officials.

Also scheduled for a recount are the Constables.

The recount is pursuant to CT General Election Statute 9-311, which reads, in part:

If, within three days after an election, it appears to the moderator that there is a discrepancy in the returns of any voting district, such moderator shall forthwith within said period summon, by written notice delivered personally, the recanvass officials, consisting of at least two checkers of different political parties and at least two absentee ballot counters of different political parties who served at such election, and the registrars of voters of the municipality in which the election was held and such other officials as may be required to conduct such recanvass.
