Enjoy 2 Creative Programs With Artist Alex Sax At Pequot Library

FAIRFIELD, CT - From Pequot Library: Maine artist Alex Sax presents two creative and literary programs on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Pequot Library. First experience the hands-on drawing workshop, Sketch a Scape with Alex Sax, from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Art and nature combine as participants create their own unique landscape sketches using poetry and the grounds of the Library as inspiration. This workshop is for adults and high school students. Supplies are provided with a suggested donation of $10.

Enjoy tea and scones from 2:00-3:00 p.m. during Fantastic Finds: Meet the Artist with Sax as she discusses the muses for her exhibition Garden Menagerie, including the poetry found in Gertrude Jekyll’s Children and
Gardens, and Marigold Garden by Kate Greenaway. Both books are part of Pequot Library’s Special Collections of rare books, manuscripts, and archives. This program is free and open to all.

Both programs are in conjunction with Sax’s exhibition Garden Menagerie on view in Pequot’s Perkin Gallery
through August 25, 2018. Sax is a fine artist working in different media, from drawing to installation. Her
installations include “The Cobweb Club” at the Portland Museum of Art, Maine; “Material Matters” at Whitney Art Works, Portland, ME; “Altered Realities” at Westchester Community College Gallery, Valhalla, NY; and “A Shift in Scale” at The Gallery of Contemporary Art, Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT. Sax has been awarded residencies at the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Weir Farm in Wilton, CT. Sax received a BA from Hamilton College in New York and an a master’s from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
