Fairfield Beaches Closed To Swimming Wednesday

FAIRFIELD, CT ? Fairfield coastal swimming areas, in addition to Lake Mohegan, will be closed to swimming on Wednesday, according to town health officials.
Monday's heavy rains resulted in elevated levels of bacteria in the water, which exceeded the Fairfield Health Department's "closure criteria;" swimming was also banned in those areas on Tuesday.
Lake Mohegan will also be closed to swimming on Thursday, officials added.

Bacterium levels in the water are tested weekly, but heavy rains can trigger precautionary closures.
