Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival Returns

Deck the Halls at the Burr Mansion

A long-time Fairfield holiday tradition resumes after a brief respite. The annual Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival returns to the historic Burr Homestead from Thursday, November 30 to Sunday, December 3, 2017. Community volunteers transformed the historic Burr Homestead, located at 739 Old Post Road, Fairfield into a spectacular celebration of Christmas.

Visitors can enjoy a cup hot cider as they meander through the newly renovated mansion and view the rooms designed by local interior decorators and artists. Exquisite trees, wreaths, and decorative items throughout are for sale, as well as custom made, one-of-a-kind live wreaths.

The Holiday Boutique is an annual favorite, offering festive gifts and ornaments. Children are welcome to visit Santa Claus. They can have their photo taken while they read him their list. All the proceeds go to the 2017 beneficiary, the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. General Admission is $10 adults / $5 children and seniors. Hours are Friday, 10am — 7pm; Saturday, 10am — 5pm and Sunday, 10am — 4pm.

Several special events are being held over the four day period according to Colleen Sargent Murphy, president of Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival.

It begins with a Holiday Preview Gala, Thursday Nov. 30 from 6:30pm - 10pm. Special guest is Chef Michel Nischan, a world leader in the sustainable food movement, as well as a three time James Beard Foundation Award winner. Guests can join in the celebration with light fare, cocktails, and music under the tent. Enjoy a glass of champagne for a chance to win a beautiful piece of jewelry. Tickets are $150 each.

Holiday Hip Hop Family Night is on Friday Dec. 1 from 5- 7pm which is fun for the whole family! Come for dinner and watch Fairfield’s own Double-Up Dance Studio perform their cool hip hop. They’ll even teach a routine. Special guest appearance by Santa Claus. Then, grab a cup of cocoa on your way to the Tree Lighting ceremony. Tickets are $20/adult, $10/child with kids 2 and under free.

Nutcracker "Sweet " Tea is on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 2–4 pm. Enjoy light fare, tea and sweets while taking in a vignette from the magical “Nutcracker Suite.” Children will get to meet dancers from the New England Ballet Company and have their pictures taken. Tickets are $30/person with children 2 yrs and under free.

The 2017 Beneficiary of the Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival is the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, whose vision is to excel in the provision of food, shelter, clothing, education, job training and residential discipleship for the urban poor and addicted.
